Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Training Director
Suzanne McLaughlin serves the dual roles of Residency Director and Med/Peds Section Chief. She received her undergraduate degree in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University and a Masters in Maternal and Child Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. After working in prenatal care at both a neighborhood health center and genetics lab in Baltimore, she received her MD from the University of Connecticut. After her Med/Peds residency training here at Rhode Island and Hasbro Children's Hospital, she pursued her interest in health services research through the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program. Her clinical research interests are in health care transition and the management of chronic conditions in primary care settings. She recently received a Picker Institute/Gold Foundation Challenge Grant to develop transition curriculum for the residency.
Sybil Cineas, MD
Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics & Internal Medicine
Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Assistant Director
Dr. Cineas is the Assistant Residency Director for Med/Peds. She is a core faculty member and an advisor and mentor to many classes of Med/Peds residents. She has overseen the Med/Peds ambulatory curriculum as well as the longitudinal Med/Peds rotation for Brown medical students. She is an active participant in the National Med/Peds Program Directors Association, the recipient of multiple Brown University teaching awards and an attending physician and board member of the Rhode Island Free Clinic. She has a strong interest in international health and maintains an active travel itinerary, including clinical experiences in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Eastern Europe.
