Case 1: "A 41-year-old woman from Puerto Rico with progressively worsening cough, associated with pleuritic chest pain and hemoptysis"

    Presenter: Sarita Warrier, M.D., General Internal Medicine

    On Panel: Muhanned Abu-Hijleh, M.D., Pulmonary; Jerome Larkin, M.D., Infectious Diseases; Eric Winer, M.D., Oncology; Bassam Aswad, M.D., Pathology

    Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to discuss the appropriate work-up and differential diagnosis of a patient presenting with hemoptysis.

Case 2: "A 71-year-old lady on peritoneal dialysis with hypokalemia and wrist pain"

    Presenter: Dominick Tammaro, M.D., General Internal Medicine

    On Panel: Douglas Shemin, M.D., Nephrology

    Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to identify benefits and complications of peritoneal dialysis and manifestations and treatment of potassium disorders in patients with end stage renal disease.

"Nephrology in China: Experience from the Nanjing Research Institute of Nephrology"

    Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to describe Nephrology in China, and the status quo of renal patient care, nephrology research and training program in the Research Institute of Nephrology at Nanjing University; and describe the productive relationship of sister renal center program between Nanjing and Brown.

"Multi-target immuno-therapy of severe lupus nephritis"

    Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to discuss a novel treatment of severe Lupus Nephritis with multi-target therapy (steroid + MMF + FK506), which will provide physicians with an opportunity to select an optimized immunosuppressive treatment for patients whose disease is refractory to the conventional therapy.

    Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to discuss ethical concerns in living donor transplantation with particular focus on altruistic living donation; and identify donor options available for kidney transplantation.
